Sam: "This country is young. And you are not gonna learn anything when I tell you that youth can be immature, clumsy, difficult, intolerant, hard to understand and to live with. But we all know that youth is also fun, unpredictable, idealistic, smart, eager to learn and full of Hope. I don't know a better analogy to talk about the United States of America. That's what makes this country so special and unique.
This country is an idea. An idea of hope, freedom and equality for everyone. Only, when we see people dying because they can't afford medical treatment, when we see people being refused to universities and jobs because the color of their skin, when we see all these numbers on TV showing us how many people are living under the poverty line and when we see so many schools begging for one more dollar, we can ask ourselves: where is this great idea we are supposed to symbolize? Where did we fail? Those are perfectly legitimate questions. Questions to which the lack of response can hang over you. I don't have the answers to these questions. I can't tell you where or when we failed. But I can tell you this: the idea is still here, somewhere in the middle of this land. And now it's time to get up and find it again.
Failure is not irremediable. We, all together, can find this idea in ourselves. We can grab it in our hands and make it happen. We can because, no matter what we say, we want to. This country is not just young, it is also unfinished. We have to keep building it. You are, we all are bound to build this country. To help it improve itself. To keep the idea alive and take the concepts of it to make them better and put them higher to a greater future. This should be our legacy.
We sure will make mistakes. It sure will be long and difficult. We sure will make wrong decisions along the way. We always did. But let not our mistakes stop us from going on. Let's learn from these mistakes and failures. Let's them make us stronger. We may bend but we won't break! You and me are gonna win the battle of wisdom and intelligence. We are gonna make this country, the United States of America, what it is supposed to be. I am standing here, in front of you today, asking you to join me in this journey because I believe you can make us better, smarter and thanks to you this country can be, will be a better place for all of us. The era of big government is not over. It starts again here and now! And it starts with you!
It is with this dream, this goal and this promise that I, Sam Seaborn, am presenting myself for the presidential election and hope doing it with your blessing and your help.
God bless you all. God bless America."
